Spotlight Water - Info on the deck of Water
Today we would like to introduce you the water deck.
The heroes
The three heroes are
- Lord of Tides, who can turn the playing board into water
- Sea Prophetess, who weakens the opponents with storms
- Hylami's slave driver, who works well with the evolution mechanics of water.
In the future, there will also be detailed background reports on the heroes.
The cards
Two races are prominent around the Thelia Peninsula and thus are often represented in the water deck: Hylamis and Anura. Other cards are mostly sea monsters and other giant sea creatures.
A coral reef exists as a building that heals nearby water creatures.
The spells allow, among other things, to wash away enemies, rust machines and create water fields on the playing board.
Special mechanics
Important game mechanics unique to the water deck:
- Evolution A unit on the board can be replaced by a better unit. For example, the Anura of the Warrior Caste can evolve into an Anura Veteran, and the Veteran can evolve into an Anura Champion. Evolving a unit costs significantly less than summoning the better unit (which is just as possible). In addition, the evolution also benefits from enhancements that the base unit already has and from a possibly favorable or advanced position on the board. In exchange, it also suffers from suffered damage and conditions, and the base unit is not additionally available to fight. So, depending on the situation, it must be weighed which variant is better.
- Water Hexes As the first and probably only special terrain type in the core box, there will be water hexes. For normal units these fields have no further meaning. However, water units will benefit from them. For example, water creatures regenerate health on such fields and some units also have increased movement when standing on such hexes. The default map initially has only normal grass hexes, but the water spells can create rivers and lakes on the map. Skillfully placed, these can significantly strengthen your units. If you also play with the Lord of Tides, you benefit from water fields right at the beginning and the possibility to even expand them.
