The World Elior

The World Elior

The world of Elior is large. However, special attention should be paid to the continent of Thelia. The landscape is as diverse as its numerous inhabitants. This is mainly due to the fact that the ley lines of the spheres leading to Elior mostly pass directly or very close to Thelia.

Far to the east lies a further unknown continent, but it is sealed off from Thelia by the insurmountable Icy Fang, a rugged mountain range with little vegetation and which is constantly covered with snow.

To the north of Thelia lies the Evergreen Forest. A region with many rivers and lakes and a very strong connection with the sphere of nature. The wood elves call these realms home. In the heart of Thelia lies the protected valley, or Valley of Light. From the north, east, and south, the valley, several hundred miles across, is surrounded by mighty mountains. To the west, the valley is open to the sea. There are only three passages through the mountains to enter the land. Each one has a massive fortification protecting the valley and its inhabitants, the triumvirate of humans, dwarves and high elves, from intruders. The river 'Greak' with its sweeping estuary delta, is named after an ancient people of legend. The water is so clear that even rune tablets lying at the bottom can be read. It is also said to have healing powers. The river finds its source at the foot of Mons Magna, a mountain located in the center of the valley. At its peak, which has never been reached by any earthly being, there is a direct ley-line connection to the Sphere of Light. Allegedly, the residence of the goddess Palandria is located there itself. According to the legend, the first one who climbs the peak and is pure of heart becomes the right hand of the Goddess of Light. At the foot of the mountain is the order fortress of Palandria's paladins, as well as the council chambers and administrative offices of the Triumvirate.

The more southern regions are close to the Sphere of Fire. Among others, the mighty Mastodons live on a large steppe landscape. Adjacent to them are the Volcanic Lands, a region full of active fire-breathing mountains. The last big eruption took place about 200 cycles ago and enlarged the volcanic lands around 'the lava peak'. Small eruptions are common, and some volcanoes even have a steady flow of lava. A special spectacle is the 'Fire River', which permanently carries maga and hisses directly into the sea, forming underground obisdian structures where a small unique ecosystem prevails. Lake Furunka is a lava lake that never seems to freeze. According to legends, mighty dragons once dwelled in it. The Minotaur Islands off the volcanic lands are the remains of a single gigantic volcano that erupted many millennia ago and then went extinct.

The Dusty Desert is a huge plain of finest sand, which finds its way into every small opening. Even if the temperatures are rather moderate, it is very dangerous to stay long. Every movement and every breeze raises dust that is inevitably inhaled.

Probably the most dangerous region on the continent of Thelia is the Shadow Realm, inhabited by creatures of the Sphere of Darkness. The line connecting the Evergreen Forest and the Shadow Realm is in a state of eternal back-and-forth, depending on which sphere has more energy flowing out of it. Thus, within days whole areas wither and two weeks later there is a completely new forest where there was just barren earth. There are many legends about the 'Cape of Terror', because strangers have only entered it occasionally. Some claim that the headland and islands consist only of bones, others believe that even these bones cannot withstand the essence of darkness.

The Plague Sea is also under the influence of the darkness. Normal inhabitants of the sea would not be able to survive here. But a multitude of living and non-living creatures also dwell here. The most dangerous is certainly the 'dark pirate', a fish-like creature with a shark's bite and 11 tentacles.

In the rest of the sea around Thelia live many Hylamis with their underwater temples. The 'Anura Atoll' in the middle of the sea is used by the Anura as a training camp. It is surrounded by a coral reef. The climate on the atoll is always warm and sunny. However, the atoll is in the eye of a perpetual whirlwind that rages around it. This makes the crossing an almost impossible journey and even underwater it is better to stay away from the enormous currents.
